* While many campers come each week for the featured specialty, it’s not a requirement. There will be loads of teens each week that are just there to hang out, have fun, and grow in the Lord. Don’t worry, if you’re not into paintball, extreme biking, or whatever else is scheduled, you can still come for that week and have a blast!

How do I get to the Island?
Registration (Saturday only):

To the Island from the south (just after Elm Tree Ct, Schroon Lake, NY 12870):
- Take Interstate 87N (NYS Thruway)
- Exit 27
- Right at end of ramp
- Left at "T" intersection (US Route 9 - North)
- Approximately 5 miles
- On right just before entering town of Schroon Lake
To the Island from the north (just before Elm Tree Ct, Schroon Lake, NY 12870):
- Take Interstate 87S (NYS Thruway)
- Exit 28 (Schroon Lake)
- Left at end of ramp
- Right at 1st intersection (US Route 9 - South)
- Drive about 2 miles through town
- Entrance to Island will be on your left
Is there an ATM there?
There is an ATM located in the Island bookstore, providing easy access to spending money for the week of camp.

How do I call a camper?
Please limit calls to campers to emergencies only. The office can be reached by calling (518) 532-7113 between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM. A message will be taken to your camper and they will return your call if necessary. Please limit calls after 10:00 PM to extreme emergencies only (i.e. death in the family).
Are cell phones allowed?
Cell phones are not be permitted during camp. Individual exceptions may be made by camp staff to help accommodate unique/emergency situations.
What is your media policy?
Please do not bring cell phones, music/media players, computers, PDAs, radios, TVs and gaming devices
My camper is staying for more than one week...is there anything I should know?
We strive to maintain a safe, supportive, and Christ-centered camping environment. In order to ensure this environment, campers who are registered for four or more weeks will be evaluated after their second week of camp with the intention of ensuring that both the camp and camper’s needs are being met. Parents, or guardians, will be informed of the child’s progress and whether or not further action may be required.
If a camper’s behavior cannot be accommodated at our camp, the parent’s will be notified of their dismissal and a refund will be issued for any unused weeks of camp.
My camper lives outside the USA...is there anything I should know about?
Passports are required for all campers who are not US citizens. Upon arrival your camper should give these documents to the camp office for secure storage.
Should the need arise, a parent or guardian must be able to reach the camp property within 48 hours. If this is not possible a secondary contact is to be designated to do so.
Can a camper get transportation from the airport or bus stations?
Word of Life can provide transportation from the following locations to our camps:
Airplane
Word of Life provides roundtrip van shuttle service from Albany International Airport for $40 on Saturdays and $50 on any other day.
Bus
Adirondack Trailways makes frequent stops at the Bus Station in Schroon Lake, New York.
If your camper needs round-trip van shuttle service from Albany International Airport or the Pottersville Bus Station, please call (518) 494-1494 between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM weekdays or e-mail bhess@wol.org to give advance notice. Please have your flight information ready when you call. A Word of Life staff member will meet your camper. Campers can give their return tickets to the camp office until departure time.
What is your Code of Conduct?
No smoking, alcoholic beverages, illicit drugs are allowed. Pets are only permitted at the Family Campground campsites and must be leashed. Attendance is required at all meetings. Only modest one-piece bathing apparel is permitted (1 Timothy 2:9). Word of Life reserves the right to terminate accommodations for persons who display disruptive or abusive conduct.
What is your Admissions Policy?
Admissions and participation in all programs at Word of Life Conference Center and camps is open to all persons regardless of race, color or national origin.
Does a camper need to have his own insurance policy?
Word of Life Camps are a non-profit, charitable organization dependent on God and His people. Those who use Word of Life facilities and/or engage in related activities, waive and release and claim for personal injury or property damage. Attendees agree to carry insurance or have the resources to cover the expenses related to personal injury or property damage.
